God damn, um. Well, I'm not going to spill ALL the secrets because I have to hold some back for heart game. ;) But Rider is.... god. She trusts him. Like, there's no one thing that really made her "let him in", he just sorta wormed his way in by being himself, and somehow it worked. She wants to protect him in the same way she wants to protect the people she cares about who she knows can look after themselves - it's much more about being there than being all NO STAY BACK I WILL PROTECT YOU!
And I've said it before, but she doesn't actually process Rider as a "kid", which is hilarious since she still processes people like Night and Pepper as kids and they're older than him. But, like... even though she's AU'd right now, that "I've got your back, you've got mine" sentiment is 100% accurate. She'll keep an eye on him, she'll call him out when she knows he's avoiding things he should deal with, and she fully expects and accepts that he'll do the same for her. I just.
